Ishani and Ram’s engagement was designed to celebrate their combined love of fashion with their passion for collecting antique furniture. Designed by Jason Rhee and assisted by Jennifer Rhee, all of the furniture and collectibles are from Ishani and Ram’s home. This was photographed around the grounds of Paramount Ranch. For those who do not know the story about Stephanie and Sam, they met on the hit NBC TV show, The Biggest Loser, where they lost a combined total of 241 pounds. Sam proposed on the show, and soon after they contacted us to photograph their wedding. A couple months later Sam was in a horrific accident in which he fell from a 4-story building in which he suffered a pelvic injury, torn ligaments, a punctured lung and a broken leg. It is a miracle that he survived. In his words, Stephanie and his love for Stephanie are what gave him the strength to fight, heal and survive. It is almost incomprehensible when you think about it. Allison and I are so happy for Sam and Stephanie and their friends and families that he has survived and recovered!! It is such an incredible story.

Due to the accident we were not able to photograph their engagement, until the night before their wedding. These images were taken on the streets of San Francisco. Steph and Sam: we love you! Thanks for the inspiration and the good times!

When we met Maya and Casey, and found out they were artists, we immediately felt that Silver Lake would be the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos. As one of the hippest and most artistic parts of Los Angeles, it is rife with amazing backdrops: old buildings, graffiti, billboards, wall art, cool shops, etc. It is the perfect place for two people who work with paint and color for a living. Later we went to a park outside of Chinatown to capture some sun flare and some imagery that celebrates Maya and Casey’s love for the outdoors. To Maya and Casey: thanks guys for making this so much fun! We had a blast, even with the parking tickets!!

Inspired by a mix of Sex and the City and Khatu’s life as a fashion blogger, we photographed their engagement on the streets of downtown Los Angeles, including Vibiana and the Walt Disney Center. Judie and BJ’s engagement was inspired by the glamour and fashion of Old Hollywood. It was photographed in the Craven’s Estate, a Versailles inspired manor in Pasadena which was built in 1930. Currently it houses the headquarters of the San Gabriel Pomona Valley American Red Cross and on the weekends it is available for a limited number of private events. Special thanks to Tim at the Cravens Estate for being so accommodating to Judie and BJ and our entire crew. Nisha and Josh’s engagement at the Disney Center in Los Angeles was inspired by Josh’s secret desire to be James Bond. Seriously. We ask all of our couples in an engagement questionnaire what would be their craziest idea for an engagement and Josh answered James Bond. What makes their shoot idea interesting is that Nisha and Josh don’t often dress up, in fact, they are very casual with sweats being their number one choice of attire. But they wanted to use their engagement shoot as an opportunity to do something that they normally wouldn’t do. In their words: “When we will ever get dressed up and do something like this again?”

Allie and I like to call this shoot “Disney Center with a hint of James Bond” as we wanted to make sure we primarily focused on their love and beauty. Enjoy the photos and stay tuned for their Hindu and Jewish wedding later this year. We can’t wait!
