Here is a question for other wedding photographers? Have you ever shot a wedding in which you instantly felt like you were one of the guests? That you had known the bride and groom forever? Where you caught yourself crying, or dancing to the music?

When I really think about it, I would say that  every wedding has been like this. Allie and I have been very fortunate to have collaborated with some amazing couples.

Charlotte and Steve’s wedding took this to a whole new level, and I think that is a testament to their relaxed and low-key approach to life. Could it be because they are both surfers and are ‘one’ with the ocean? Maybe. Could it be that they are  both artists – Steve a sculptor and painter, Charlotte, a shoe designer? Maybe. Or could it be that they are both just two beautiful human beings who have found love and each other? Probably.

All I know is that the pictures were an absolute joy to make, and again, Allie and I were reminded how lucky we are to do what we do.

The first thing that impressed Allie and I when we arrived at Angel and Tony’s home for the traditional Asian tea ceremony was the amount of extended family. There must have been twenty-plus relatives: aunts and uncles, siblings and grandparents. We had so much fun with Angel’s family, especially with her relatives who did not speak English. It is amazing what can be accomplished with a smile, or a laugh. But what was even more amazing was the fact that Tony was asleep in his bed (door open) for the first 30 minutes, oblivious to the ruckus and excitement. Now that was impressive.

Angel and Tony met in law school in New York City, and that is where their similarity fades: she is conservative, he is a musician. She is a corporate attorney, he is a public defender. Together, they are gracious, modest and a perfect fit. Their love is tangible. Allie and I felt very blessed to be involved in their special day.

And, what a BEAUTIFUL bride! Sorry Tony, but your wife gets most of the pictures below!

Allie and I lived in a loft in downtown Los Angeles at 4th and Spring Street  for a few years. It is where we had our photography studio, it is where we welcomed our daughter Aberdeen into our lives,  and it is where we made many many friends. Anika is one of those friends.

As the manager for Vibiana, Anika has also been my client; I have been  shooting Vibiana’s marketing materials for over two years. When Anika asked Allie and I to photograph her wedding, we were overwhelmed and honored to be considered.

Anika’s wedding was at Marvimon in downtown Los Angeles – one of the most unique venues in all of Southern California. Her fiance Todd and Anika have impeccable taste:  from the fall-inspired centerpieces and palette to the huge slideshow which played throughout the evening to the florals and wedding attire.

It also should be noted that Anika is absolutely gorgeous.
