Brian and Allison Callaway are Both Awarded the Best of the Best Wedding Photographs -2011 by Junebug Weddings

On Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012, Junebug Weddings, one of the most-respected and trend-setting wedding brands and blogs in the world, announced the winning images of their Best of the Best Wedding Photographs of 2011. For the winning photographers this is a very prestigious distinction as 500 of the best wedding photographers from around the globe enter to win. As you can imagine, the competition is fierce. Allison and I entered separately and are beyond happy and proud to announce that we were both chosen as winning photographers. It is quite a distinction to have one photo chosen, but to have two photographs chosen among the 50 is a true accomplishment. In fact, this has only happened seven times in the previous four years since the beginning of the contest. Of those seven winning photographers, all but one are winners of the wedding photographer’s ultimate award, the wedding industry ‘Oscar’: American Photo’s yearly list of Top Ten Wedding Photographers. In other words, Allie and I are in some seriously amazing company.

What makes this even more special is that our two winning photographs are pure candid photo-journalistic moments, something that we excel in, but is often overshadowed by our love of portraiture.

We are beyond grateful to our clients and family who are our collaborators, supporters and dear friends.

Finally, special thanks to the ladies at Junebug Weddings for continuing to be the only wedding industry brand and blog who continue to celebrate and highlight the art of photography. This contest is truly a one-of-a-kind celebration of the pinnacle of fine art of wedding photography, and we couldn’t be more happy and honored to be involved.

Brian's image is from Heather and Teddy's wedding at the new Montage in Deer Valley. This candid portrait of his grandfather was taken during the tisch, the traditional part of the Jewish wedding ceremony in which the men informally gather to celebrate the groom.
