Updated July 12, 2019 A few years ago Allison and I flew to Boston to photograph Khatu and Darrens Crane Estate Wedding celebration. Located in Ispwich, Massachusetts (45 minutes from Boston), the Crane Estate is made up of three properties: the public beach, the Crane Wildlife Refuge and Castle Hill. Castle Hill is a National Historic Landmark that is home to the Grand House, which is where the wedding and reception were held. The house was built in the 1920’s as a summer house for plumbing magnate Richard Teller Crane, Jr. It survives today as an event venue. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the view from the Grand House down the half-mile-long manicured lawn named the Grand Allée is spectacular. This is one of the most gorgeous settings and was absolutely perfect for Khatu and Darren’s special day.
Khatu and Darren are Vietnamese and Chinese respectively so they started everything off with their families in a traditional Asian tea ceremony in the Inn at Castle Hill. We photographed their portraits around the grounds of the Inn, and then moved up to the Great House for the western ceremony. From her custom made in Vietnam beaded dress to her Vera Wang wedding dress, Khatu, a stylist and fashion blogger, was simply gorgeous. Darren wore two custom made suits and was one of our sharpest dressed grooms to date! This all pales in comparison when you consider that these two are two of the most down to earth and loving people we have ever met. Congratulations you two!
Special thanks to our new friends and favorite filmmakers Melissa and Tom Dowler from Long Haul Films (they travel!), Vinwood Caterers and the Castle Hill staff! Full list of vendors after the photos. Enjoy!
