Rachelle and Thom’s Mad Men Engagement photos were shot on location at the Neutra VDL Research House in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. Built 75 years ago by architect Richard Neutra (who Time magazine once remarked as “second only to lordly Frank Lloyd Wright”), the VDL House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and sits directly across from the Silver Lake Reservoir. It is a glass house with huge outside sun louvers (which are amazing), water roofs (which are now dry), roof-top and balcony gardens and a third-story penthouse. The design of the house was radical at the time, and perfect today as the backdrop for Rachelle and Thom’s period-piece engagement shoot inspired by the hit show Mad Men.
