PELICAN HILL RESORT

22701 S Pelican Hill Road,
Newport Coast, CA 92657

When I think of a Pelican Hill Resort wedding, the first thing that always comes to mind is the view. Looking down from the hotel, you see the beautiful Rotunda on the Event Lawn with the Pacific Ocean behind – surrounding by beautiful green golf courses. It’s breathtaking.  The inspiration for the hotel comes from Andrea Palladio, considered the greatest architect in the 16th Century. Known for his love of Roman and Greek architecture. According to Pelican Hill Magazine in an article on The Making of Pelican Hill, Palladio “used simplicity, symmetry and proportion to evoke a sense of grandeur and permanence.” Completed in 2008, The Pelican Hill Resort is one of the United States’ finest hotels and a top destination for luxury weddings. Last winter, it was home to Felicia and Dana’s Persian Jewish wedding. Designed and planned by Samantha Phillips from Details Details Event Planning, every detail was beautiful. Which makes sense, because the super creative team at Square Root designed the florals and decor. In fact, all of the collaborators were equally amazing – look for their credits and websites above. The wedding took place at the Rotunda on the Event Lawn. Here’s an interesting fact I learned from the Pelican Hill Magazine. The inspiration for the Rotunda “comes from folly structuresfound in Italian gardens.” (Don’t know what a folly structure is? I didn’t know either. In 1800’s Europe it was popular to create extravagant structures in the garden that had little or no use except as an ornament). Because of their Jewish traditions, the wedding took place after sunset. This is why the ceremony photos are at night. Quick tip: when looking for a Pelican Hill photographer, it’s important to find someone who is skilled at nighttime photography. The reception was held in the Mar Vista ballroom. Their portraits were photographed at the Rotunda, in their event spaces and in a secret space we found just a few minutes from the hotel lobby. This was truly an amazing day and a quintessential Pelican Hill Resort wedding.
