ISES 7th Annual Meet the Masters Event

Last week Allison and I spoke at the ISES 7th Annual Meet the Masters event at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Century City. ISES, or International Society of Event Specialists, is one of the nation’s leading special event networking groups. This event is an annual dinner in which several of the wedding industry’s leaders sit down with the attendees and talk business, offer advice and share stories. As a Master, we privately dined and networked with fellow Masters: Kevin Covey of Kevin Covey Wedding & Event Coordination, Eddie Zaratsian of Eddie Zarastian Floral Boutique, and Rrivre Davies of Rrivre Works, to name a few. Later in the evening, we sat down with the sold-out crowd and talked shop. Questions were mainly concentrated on social media, advertising and how we began and grew our business. We talked to some about the balance of raising kids and work. At the end, we all sat as a panel and answered questions from the crowd.

All in all, the experience was very moving for us. Allison and I have spent the last five years crafting our business into a profitable and meaningful venture. To be recognized for the hard work is an awesome feeling. To talk to others about our process and path and to give insight is indescribable. It is something that we respect and approach with humility. Thank you ISES for the honor, and thank you to the attendees for talking with us. Our hope was that a few people learned something – we certainly learned a thing or two from everyone there.
