If you follow our blog, you may notice that we have a special fondness for downtown Los Angeles engagement photos. It’s our favorite place to photograph. There is so much interesting architecture, colors, light and shadows. Two of our favorite spots are Disney Concert Hall and the LA Department and Water and Power Building. They are probably the only places left in Los Angeles that do not require a photo permit. Disney Concert Hall has the most amazing light that bounces around the steel structure. Every time we shoot here, we find a different composition. It’s sophisticated, classic and dramatic. Conversely, The LA DWP building grounds are open with wide views of downtown Los Angeles. There is a pond that surrounds the building that gives amazing reflections on a calm day. We love the lines of the building and often find ourselves incorporating the lines and shadows in our shots.
With this Los Angeles engagement session, we started at the Disney Concert Hall, moved to the DWP Building and finished somewhere in east LA. This area is another favorite because of the ever changing colorful street art and graffiti. One of our favorite things to do is juxtapose beauty (our clients) against the grit and dirt of places like this. It gives the photos an editorial and fashion-inspired feel. Many of our clients love this look, and so do we!
